Your Guide to Our Custom Engagement Ring Experience

At Jane Finch Jewellery, we believe an engagement ring should be as unique and special as your love story. While we don't have many ready-to-ship rings on offer at this time, we do specialise in made-to-order and bespoke designs that perfectly capture your vision and sentiment, and personally I really cherish working closely with you to create these special pieces.

Honestly, running on made-to-order feels far more in-line with our sustainability efforts anyway. So for those who are looking for their dream ring, or simply curious on how the bespoke process works, keep on reading as I walk you through the steps of creating a bespoke ring with Jane Finch. 

The Consultation – Your Vision Comes to Life ✨

Your journey to your dream ring begins here, with a consultation. We offer in-person appointments from our studio in Laverton North, or Online consultations for those who can't make it in. 
In this relaxed, personal session (typically lasting 30-40 minutes), we’ll discuss your ideas and wants, and guide you through your options — from selecting the perfect stone to choosing a setting to works with your lifestyle and deciding on the ideal metal.

Can't visit us in person? No worries! We offer comprehensive online consultations. Simply fill out our detailed questionnaire, upload any inspo images, and Steph will promptly reply with a personalized quote within 2-3 days.

At this appointment we do have a catalogue of popular designs on hand that you can go through, I've found that this comes in handy if you're kind of coming into appointment this appointment being open or unsure on what you want exactly. 

Sourcing and Design Approval – Tailored Just for You

Once we have a clear vision, we get to work sourcing your dream stones. For bespoke pieces or unique stones such as the stunning Parti Sapphires, we’ll provide you with mock-ups and photographs for your approval — ensuring we match your vision perfectly. These are sent through via email within 1-2 days of your consult. 

Creating Your Ring – Craftsmanship and Precision

After approving your quote and placing a 50% deposit, your ring enters production. The entire process takes approximately 6-8 weeks, allowing ample time for meticulous attention to each detail at every stage. Whether I'm fabricating by hand or using CAD and casting, each ring receives dedicated craftsmanship — carefully polished, stones expertly set, and rigorously evaluated by a fully accredited NCJV valuer. 

Almost Ready – Valuation and Final Steps 🎊

When your ring is nearing completion and heading in for valuation, we’ll touch base with you. This update typically happens 1-2 weeks before your ring is ready, giving you time to prepare for collection and finalize your remaining payment.

Collection or Delivery – The Exciting Moment

Your special ring is now ready! You can choose to collect it personally from our Laverton North studio, or we can safely deliver it to your doorstep via Express Post or a trusted courier.  All parcels have insurance and Signature on Delivery for peace of mind.

After handover I typically ask if the person has a date in mind they plan to propose, and I avoid sharing any professional shots of the piece until its made its way home. It absolutely warms my soul when the receiving partner eventually reaches out, gushing over their ring and the finer details — and I am just so grateful for you choosing to work with me on these special life pieces.

Gemstone Options – Diamonds and Beyond 

You're never limited to diamonds at Jane Finch.  While natural diamonds are classic and feel timeless, Sapphires have actually become our most requested gemstone — and for good reason! Celebrated for their remarkable strength and stunning array of vivid colours, sapphires make a stunning alternative stone for your ring.
Additionally, for those looking to blend classic beauty with affordability, we also offer lab-grown diamonds and moissanites.

The long in short, I have a broad network of accounts with diamond and gemstone suppliers from all around the world, and whatever you're looking for, we can find it. 

Warranty

Jane Finch offers a 5 year manufacturing warranty on all engagement and wedding rings - to maintain the warranty simply drop your piece in once every 12 months for an annual clean and check-up.  This warranty does not cover lost stones, accidental damage, or wear and tear — but we do send along a highly recommended jewellery specific insurer's details with your valuation. 
After the 5 years, you're always welcome to drop your rings in for a complimentary clean and polish.
